Classes and Support Groups

Early Prenatal Class
Recommended: between 10-24 weeks

Our Early Prenatal Class covers information about car seats and infant swing safety, ABCs of safe sleep, birth certificate information, an initial overview of breastfeeding and  Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Call 599.3193 for date of the next class. It is typically scheduled weekly or every other week.

Evening and Saturday Prenatal Classes
Recommended between 30-36 weeks

Classes are free if delivering at Henry Community Health. There is a $40 charge for the class if you aren’t delivering at Henry Community Health. Mothers-to-be and their labor partner learn what to expect during labor and delivery. The class will give you suggestions to help you experience a calmer, more comfortable and more confident birth. You’ll see  Also covered are relaxation techniques, types of pain control and routine newborn care and feeding.

Evening Class                                      Usually held on Tuesdays from 6-8:30 pm for three weeks.

Saturday Class                                    Classes begin at 8 am and end around 3:30 pm

Breastfeeding Class
Recommended between 34-38 weeks

If you are considering or have already decided to breastfeed, this class provides helpful information. Taught by a Certified Lactation Counselor, the class answers your questions and concerns about breastfeeding. We encourage all mothers-to-be to attend this class as it will help you feel confident that you made the best decision about feeding for you and your baby. The class is free and is one evening from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. While you can attend at any time it is recommended between 34-38 weeks.  Call 599.3193. for more information.

Feeding Support Group For Breastfed and Bottlefed Babies

Whether you are breastfeeding or bottle feeding, you and your baby always are welcome at any of these support groups. Whether you come to every event or occasionally they are here to help support you in feeding your new baby. And if you want, we can weigh your baby for you each time.  If you are pregnant and looking for more information about infant feeding, please join us at any time.

Prenatal Aquatics

This low intensity aquatics class is a safe way to exercise. Classes are held in the warm water pool at HealthRidge located in Forest Ridge Medical Pavilion. There is a fee for this class. Call 765.521.1216 to learn more.

Sibling Class

Our “Sibling Silly” Program is for children ages 3 and older and works best if scheduled less than a month from your expected delivery so your child retains the information.  We ask your child (children) to bring a doll or stuffed animal with them. The class provides a fun and entertaining presentation of information showing siblings-to-be how to handle a baby doll, practice diapering, feeding, and talking about what having a new baby is like. Call 521.1116 to schedule the class. There is a $40 charge if you are not delivering at Henry Community Health.
